    Terms of Service

    Last updated: October 19, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Descent (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or subscribing you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Descent.

    1. The service

Descent is an online machine-learning curriculum. The route map, notation guide, timeline and library are free to browse; the lessons themselves need Descent Pro, a paid subscription that starts with a free trial. We may add, change or remove lessons over time.

    2. Accounts

You need an account to subscribe. Keep your sign-in details secure; you’re responsible for activity on your account. One person per account. You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age in your country) to create one, and old enough to enter a binding contract (or have a parent’s or guardian’s permission) to subscribe.

    3. Subscriptions, free trials and automatic renewal

    • Price. The price, billing period (monthly or yearly) and any taxes are shown on the pricing page and again on the checkout page before you pay.
    • Free trial. New subscribers get a free trial (the length is shown before checkout). A payment card is required to start it. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your trial converts automatically into a paid subscription and your card is charged the subscription price on the date shown at checkout. One free trial per person; we may refuse a trial where we reasonably believe it has been claimed before.
    • Student offer. Students who verify a school email address ending in “.edu” may get a longer free trial. Each address can be used for one student trial only, and the offer may change or end at any time for new sign-ups.
    • Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and we charge your card the then-current price, until you cancel.
    • Price changes. If the price changes we’ll tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
    • Payments are processed by Stripe. If a payment fails we’ll retry it for a short period; access to Pro lessons may be suspended until payment succeeds, and the subscription ends if it doesn’t.

    4. How to cancel

You can cancel at any time: Account → Manage billing → Cancel subscription. You can also email support-descent@cmd-tab.com. Cancellation stops future charges; you keep Pro access until the end of the trial or billing period you’re in. Deleting your account cancels your subscription immediately.

    5. Refunds

Payments are non-refundable except where required by law. If you were charged by mistake, or you forgot to cancel before a renewal and haven’t used Descent Pro since that charge, email us within 14 days of the charge and we’ll refund it. Nothing in these terms limits any right to a refund or to cancel that you have under the law where you live.

    6. Using the content

Lessons, visuals and animations are for your personal, non-commercial learning. Don’t copy, resell, redistribute or share access to Pro content, or scrape or bulk-download the site. Code snippets in lessons may be used in your own work.

    7. Ending access

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms (for example, sharing paid content or abusing free trials). If we close your account without cause we’ll refund the unused part of any paid period.

    8. Disclaimers and liability

Descent is educational material provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

    9. Changes and law

We may update these terms; if a change materially affects paying subscribers we’ll email you before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections where you live.

    10. Contact

    Descent, support-descent@cmd-tab.com.
